We Are family

We all love racing; that is undeniable. I am also sure that we all have our favorite type of racing, and that is just fine. What is also true is that no matter what type of racing it is that we have the most passion for, that one true love becomes more of a blind eye at times, especially when tragedy happens. When one of us hurts, our hearts all break.

I’ve been in racing my entire life. My dad raced some when I was very young, then my parents started promoting different tracks across Kentucky when I was 4 years old. In 2010 I married a HoF race car driver, at the end of 2011 my parents stopped promoting tracks, at the start of 2018 I went to work for a late model series, and in 2022 I started with the World of Outlaws, so literally my entire life.

Sometimes we may question how we can still love it so much with the risks involved and the heartache it can cause. This sport we all love so dearly can take away those we love in a split second. Why do we still love it? Answer is simple, those we love, also love it.

I am a super late model girl through and through but recently the sprint world has taken a hard hit with the accident that took the life of Justin Owen at Lawrenceburg Speedway (but saved 80 lives thanks to organ donation), and a few days later a violent accident at Lakeside Speedway that made everyone hold their breath and say urgent prayers for Jake Neuman until family posted to social media that he was in stable condition – Praise the Lord!

Racers are out there doing what they love, they know the risks but do it anyway. Why? Because they love it, we all do. We all come together and support each other no matter the type of racing because at the end of the day we are nothing more than one big family.

We won’t always agree, we may fight and argue, we may create unintentional enemies. We travel together, go on vacations together, we gain best friends. Sometimes all those descriptions may cover the same people over a period! Sound familiar, like family maybe? Yep, that is it.

One more reason why the Be an Outlaw program is so special, it helps spread the word about a chosen family. We love connecting with our family from across the world at tracks across the country. Please come visit us at the track. Have suggestions/ideas or something you want to tell us, send us an email at fans@dirtcar.com because we would love to hear from you! We are in this crazy world together.

So, if you are reading this, thanks for being a part of our family.
